Interesting little article I came across over at Creative Match about Google’s attempt to make:

“web fonts significantly better user experience, including web fonts used in branded content loading faster, better font rendering quality for noticeably better display quality across a variety of device screens and improved cross platform performance”.

They are working in collaboration with Monotype and their patented MicroType® Express (MTX) algorithm.

Finally moved my site to a WordPress build. This is something I have been meaning to do for quite a while now but never seemed to find the time. This site is roughly built around the theme of Simplicity by kochwerkstatt.

Although the theme is fairly old, this is a very simple framework build that has allowed me to add elements and learn as much as possible about the creative possibilities of WordPress.

Although I am a designer with plenty of experience with coding, I had found the default installed themes of TwentyTen and TwentyEleven a little too busy for a newbie to WordPress to pick through and learn as much as possible, in a short a time as possible.

There are plenty of other themes that are similarly simple enough for designers to get their teeth stuck into; perusing the WordPress Template Directory will give anyone an indication of this. But for this designer and this blog I will and have concentrated my efforts to using this theme and will direct what I have learned to this end.
